None of us are responsible for our ancestors’ actions, but it’s interesting to see how our families fit into American history. Today at The Federalist, I looked at Pete Buttigieg’s family tree and its place in the American story, including some connections never published before.
Where did you find the information on the Inge family? Is it publicly available? My grandmother was an Inge born in Texas and I believe that her line most likely is tangentially related to Buttigieg’s Inge line, but I’m missing some pieces that connect back to Richard, and would love to see any research you have about the family. My research currently only takes me back to 1859.
A lot of it I put together from census records, but earlier connections with the Inge family can be found in “The Herndon and Inge Families,” by George B. Inge, 1977. It’s online at https://www.familysearch.org/library/books/records/item/575637-the-herndon-and-inge-families-genealogical-historical-biographical. You have to create an account, but it’s free.
Good luck with your research!
